OPENING HOURS

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.30pm. All consultations are by appointment only, these can be booked by telephone, in person or on the Manage my health patient portal.

WAITING ROOM

Please report to reception on arrival to Mahara Health, we need to clock you in on our computer system so the Doctor or Nurse know you are here.

EMERGENCIES

Emergencies do happen in a medical centre, this may make your waiting time longer. If you are unable to wait please let the receptionist know so they can rebook your appointment.

Please advise the receptionist if you are having CHEST PAIN, SHORTNESS OF BREATH OR ANY ISSUE THAT YOU MAY BE SERIOUSLY CONCERNED ABOUT.

Did you know there is a Free 24 – hour health line service? Call 0800 611 116 where a nurse will triage your phone call.

AFTERHOURS

If you need to contact a doctor afterhours. Please ring 04 595 4207 where a nurse will triage your phone call and advise if you need to see a doctor urgently, Team Medical in Paraparaumu are open on weekends and close at 10pm during week days, phone 04 297 3000 or call the ambulance on 111

ZOSTAVAX – SHINGLES VACCINE.

Almost everyone is at risk of shingles because they are likely to have been exposed to chickenpox, even if they have no history of clinical chickenpox or chickenpox vaccine. Zostavax is indicated and fully funded for adults over 65 years. Adults aged 66-80 years can have a catch-up vaccine which is free until 31 March 2020.

HOUSE VISITS

If you require a House visit, please ring first thing in the morning so we can arrange a suitable time to visit. There is an extra charge for this service.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

You can phone into Mahara Health and request a repeat prescription. You have the option of leaving a message or you can talk to the receptionist to request. The other options are Manage My Health –(Patient portal) or a visit to the Practice. Remember you need to be seen every 6 months if you are on regular medications.

Prescriptions are charged at $18.00 for those patients over 18 and over. 14 to 17 with csc is $12.50. If you want your prescription faxed there is a fee of $5.00. Other charges may apply such as Urgent prescriptions. (Same day)
